Christmas Holiday Mini Sessions are GO!

So you have booked the Session! Tick that off the Holiday List of things to do! Now the thought of coordinating the family and picking out outfits slipped into your mind and your head is spinning! Don’t worry, thats why I am here to help. Holiday Photo Sessions are meant to be fun, so don’t let yourself get all worked up over the many tiny details. But that being said, here are some little helpful hints to get the most our of your Holiday Mini Session.

Coordinate Outfits But Don’t ‘Matchy-Matchy’

I always suggest to my clients to pick out THREE colors that go well together and one of those colors being a neutral color. After selecting your color palette, select outfits for your family that coordinate with the colors you have chosen. You do not all have to be wearing matching sweaters and identical pants. Instead, mix it up a little, but stick to the color palette you have chosen. This will create unity without going over the top. For example, when you think of Christmas, RED instantly comes to mind. So a great Holiday outfit color scheme would be Red, Denim and White! Take a look at the Inspiration Board below to get an idea of coordinating outfits that don’t necessarily match but connect well together. And FYI, Red always looks amazing against the dark green Christmas Tree Farm backdrop.

YES To Accessories!

I’m all about the little EXTRAS! Add some flare and personality to your session by incorporating some little accessories. Winter hats, Mittens, a fun cozy blanket, winter boots… the list is endless. I will be bringing a few smaller props with me to the Christmas Tree Farm Sessions for a few of the photos if requested, but the main point of the session is to capture your family, their dynamic and fun personality! I don’t like to go crazy with too many props, but I will have with me a little antique sled, a red radio flyer cart and a few other simple Holiday themed accessories. The session will be laid back and my goal is for you all to be as comfortable as possible in front of the camera!

Go ALL OUT!

This may NOT be for all of you, but Hey, It’s Christmas and you can party if you want too! If you are looking for a more stylized session, then feel free to get dressed up and make it Semi Formal. If you ask me, there is nothing cuter than a couple in a pretty dress and a fine suit standing out in the middle of a field of Christmas Trees. How often do you get to have professional Family Photos? Make the most of it! You will be so glad you did it! Just trust me.

FUR BABIES Welcome!

Yes, you read that right! I am happy to say that our host Christmas Tree Farm loves Dogs! So, if your so inclined, you are more than welcome to bring the fur babies. All dogs MUST BE LEASHED while on the property though. Just remember, this is a MINI session and if you think your dog will just add too much added stress to the shoot, I recommend leaving them at home. Another option is to have them in the car and bring them out in the last half of the session for a couple of full Family Photos . If you plan to bring your dog, please let me know in advance so that I can prepare for those photos!

Please be respectful of the private property and bring your doggie-bags and clean up after your pup.

BE ON TIME!

No Alice in Wonderland White Rabbits! Try not to be late to this very important date. Your Mini Session is allocated a very specific time. If you are late, unfortunately that means you will be cutting into your OWN mini session time. I can not extend sessions due to clients being late. Mini sessions run back to back and this means that I need to finish at our allocated time. Please try to be five minutes early to your session to allow walking to the location and additional unexpected things. I suggest GPS-ing the location in advance to time your arrival.

YOUR PHOTOS!

After your session has taken place, it will take me 1-2 weeks to edit your images and present you with a fully edited gallery. I aim to get them done early than this, but this is a good time frame to have in the back of your head. You will receive a notice that your gallery is ready! From there I will upload your awesome session into an online gallery. You will be able to choose your favorite photos and decide if you would like to upgrade to the full session. The gallery will remain open for 48 hours from the time it is sent, to allow you time to choose your photos. I will be leaving  for Australia (home) for a vacation on the 8th of December, so all photographs MUST be edited by me, sent to you and downloaded by this time.

HAVE FUN!!

And of course the MOST important part… HAVE FUN! I can not wait to meet you all, some of you I will be seeing again. Photographing Families is my favorite and I can not wait for you to have some amazing photos for your Christmas Cards! If you need to ask any questions or just talk about your session, feel free to contact me via email nataliebuckphotography@gmail.com or through my CONTACT page. Happy to help any way that I can!
